Top 7 Sweet Breads You Need to Bake

1. Challah Bread

Challah is one of the most delicious things to ever grace this earth.  I grew up eating it at Friday night Shabbat and other holidays.  It's traditionally made in a braid that has eggs, flour, water, yeast, salt and my absolute favorite ingredient sugar.  I think it tastes especially delicious with a little honey thrown in.  It's also tasty with a few scoops of raisins added.

Challah is a succulent sweet bread that yes, may have a somewhat complicated process (the braiding is a b***h), but is worth the hassle.  For a great recipe click here!

2. Zucchini Bread

Zucchini bread is a pretty simple but delicious sweet bread.  And, bonus, you can lie to yourself and say it's "healthy" because it has zucchini in it!  But it's really not too good for you, but 100% fine in moderation.  Most recipes include other spices like cinnamon and almonds, pecans, or walnuts.  Really you can do whatever you want, it's your zucchini bread, but if you're looking for a good recipe click here!

I highly recommend everybody try to make zucchini bread because it really is super easy to make.  My friends and I were able to make the dough in about ten minutes and then let it cook for a little less than an hour.  It's a lot of fun to do with friends or bake by yourself, either way a fun way to pass the time.

3. Monkey Bread

Monkey bread was a staple of my childhood.  One of those treats that with every savory bite I feel a pain of nostalgia hit my lower abdomen.  My aunt always made delicious monkey bread and there were many an afternoon when my friends and I were bored so we decided to bake something easy (because we were lazy)- usually this was monkey bread.  With fairly simple ingredients and a quick preparation process the longest part is the bake time.  If you're looking for a fun snack to bake try this recipe!

Spice up your traditional lemon tea cake with some mouthwatering blueberries!  Top it off with some delish icing and you're pretty much good to go.  No need to go to Starbucks when you can easily make it at home and enjoy it for the next few days, or bring it to a party and treat all your friends!  Relatively simple and crazy nummy lemon-blueberry bread is an amazing treat to try!  Looking for a great recipe?  Click here!

5. Banana Bread

Know what's delicious- almonds.  Know what's also delicious- bread.  Combine the two and you get something seriously dank.  Almond bread has a simple preparation process and an appetizing result.  It's one of the quickest on the list to make with a baking time of a mere 40-45 minutes.  If you need a solid recipe to try click here!

7, Coffee Cake

bakeorbreak.com

While not exactly bread, I'm currently craving Coffee Cake so it's ending up on the list.  Also it's delicious and that is that.  In my opinion, the best way to start the day is with a  cup of coffee and a slice of coffee cake!  It's sweet, delish, mouth-watering and just freaking amazing!  Maybe not the best thing to be eating every morning, but like everything else in this world it's perfectly fine in moderation.  If you're looking for a recipe to try click here!

My First Double Layer Cake!

I'm so sorry that I have been so lame, not that many people actually read this, but I am sorry nonetheless.  If not to anyone else than to myself because I am disappointed that I have not kept up with writing as much as I would like.  I have been baking though, and I have lots of new excursions to discuss!  One of the most exciting things that I have made recently is a birthday cake for a dear friend of mine and - not to toot my own horn - but it came out pretty damn good.

I was a bit of a lazy couch potato because I didn't completely make it myself.  Instead of being an original real baker- one that I aspire to be someday- I used a brownie box mix (because I wanted the cake to be extra fudgy and delicious!).  I mixed together the brownie mix, one egg, and 11/2 sticks of butter.  In addition I added a little maple syrup to the mix and just a touch of vanilla extract.  I then added in 1/2 a cup of milk and 1/2 a cup of water- just cause :)

Once you have the batter mixed (yes I mixed mine in a pot, that's because all the other big bowls were being used and I had to get creative) you want to grease up your cake pan and lay it in.  Make sure to spread evenly so your cake isn't lopsided!

Cook for about 20 minutes first at 350 degrees F.  If it's not cooked through then do five minute intervals until completed.  While all this is happening you can start the peanut butter frosting, which was my favorite part of this recipe!  It was so creamy and delicious!

How to make such dank and amazing frosting:

1. First empty one tub of creamy peanut butter into a bowl (the normal size at the supermarket I believe it is 48oz).
2. Mix in 1 1/2 sticks of butter, add in a lil water if needed.  You want it to be like a paste.
3. Add 3 cups of sugar and be sure to stir thoroughly!
4. add in a teaspoon or so of vanilla extract (not too much though because you don't want to loose that delicious PB flavor)

** if it ever gets too watery just add more peanut butter!! :)

By now your cake layers should be ready to go (unless you're me who had to cook them one at a time, but still at some point these damned things get baked!)

You want to give the cakes some time to cool before trying to remove them from the pan.  But after they've had a sufficient amount of time (say 10 minutes maybe...) what you need to do is place a plate directly on top of the pan and then carefully slip it over and place the plate on the counter.  If the cake gets stuck try lightly banging on the bottom of the cake pan with the plate underneath it!

Once you've let the cakes cool and they're on a plate you can go ahead and begin frosting!

I wanted to throw on M&Ms for good measure!

Happy Baking Guys!!!!!

How to make Scrumptious Slutty Cupcakes

So most people have heard of the deliciousness known as slutty brownies.  They involve Oreos, brownies, AND cookies!  Pretty much the trifecta of delicious treats.  Well, my roommate and I, after weirdly finishing our homework early decided to embark on a journey to bake slutty cupcakes.  They have all the deliciousness of slutty brownies with an additional sugar rush from some mouth watering cream cheese frosting.  They're simple and crazy delicious.

All you need is:
- brownie batter (box or you can make your own for a recipe click here).
- chocolate chip cookie dough (premade or homemade, for recipe click here).
- Oreos
- 8oz of plain cream cheese
- 1 stick of unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of sugar

First things first pre-heat your oven to 350F.  After that, line up 12 cupcake holders in a pan.  Remember to spray a little pam/butter/oil on the bottom of the holder or else the Oreo might stick.

Add an Oreo to each cup holder.  Then pour the cookie dough over the Oreos and top it all off with some seriously dank brownie batter.

Bake for 17-20 minutes :)
and then let cool....

While they're baking you should prepare the cream cheese frosting.  All you need to do is mix together the cream cheese, butter, sugar, and vanilla extract.  Make sure to mix until the frosting is light, fluffy, and has no lumpy cream cheese.  I know it can be difficult when you don't have an electric mixer but do what you can- I'm sure it will be delicious no matter what!

After you have let the cupcakes cool a little, add your cream cheese frosting!  For a deliciously decorative treat add half an Oreo to the top!   After that enjoy some scrumptious slutty cupcakes- you deserve it!  #treatyoself
